I'm a born and raised Alaskan Native, my mom's side of the family being of Alutiiq decent and my dad's side Irish/Scottish. Having such close roots with my mom's side of the family I grew up with a subsistence lifestyle primarily around fishing in a small village.
As a kid I always knew I wanted to carry the shoes of the women before me and be a boat captain with a little fishing operation. That dream would spiral to many years of finding out what I wanted to do with the rest of my time. My fishing operation fueled me to explore many passions, skillsets and adventures throughout the years. These included sports fish guiding, taxidermy, fish skin tanning, metal smithing, fur sewing... the list goes on. Being able to create art and functional pieces with aspects of my life is what I'm most proud of.
In 2021 I met my husband, a professional outdoorsman with a remote lifestyle and my life got that much sweeter. I met a man who pushes me to be the best version of myself every day with the freedom to explore and live an adventurous life.
Flash forward to now, I guide professionally alongside my husband for big game in Alaska and Trapping fur bearing species. We share the same dream of making our life the biggest adventure and share some of those stories on History Channel's tv show Mountain Men.
If you follow Bret and I, we appreciate you all for being here and supporting us.
This space is for us to share more stories, experiences, tips and thoughts for living the most adventurous life with your partner.
It's also a space for you to find my art for sale as I create.
Thank you for being here,
Ivy O
